Are you ready for change?

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

Dear Friends:

Are you ready for change?

On November 4 Americans went to the polls to vote in the most anticipated election in U.S. history.  Barack Obama’s victory is beyond historic and signals the tremendous success of the movements for civil rights and equal opportunity in the United States.  The political opportunities offered by Obama’s decisive victory are many.  Yet, for those of us working for systemic change in U.S. policy toward Africa and her Diaspora, we know that our ability to transform political opportunities to success is dependent upon two things:  our clear vision and our mobilization.

The challenges facing all of us, especially communities of color, are monumental.  Our globe faces a world-wide food crisis, an environment crisis, and a financial crisis, the result of three decades of failed economic and trade policies.

At TransAfrica Forum we are prepared to continue our fight for systemic change, and we hope that you will join us.

We know that only through focused global action can we compel Washington, D.C. politicians and their international allies to make the essential changes to the economic structures that have failed communities of color around the world.
