Please Join Us for a Brownbag Lunchtime Discussion
Wednesday, October 8, 2008
1:00pm - 2:30 pm
TransAfrica Forum 1629 K Street, NW, Suite 1100, Washington, DC 20006
Featuring Gerald Lenoir
Black Alliance for Just Immigration
Please join Gerald Lenoir, co-founder of Black Alliance for Just Alliance for a lunch-time discussion. The Alliance, or BAJI, is a group of African Americans and black immigrants working towards uniting communities for just and fair immigration reform [http://blackalliance.org/main/].
On Sunday, Gerald was featured at Busboys and Poets as a panelist discussing: "Finding Common Ground: Building Solidarity between African-American and Immigrant Communities." Please join us on Wednesday as we discuss immigration within the broader socio-political context of US-LAC relations. Given the recent, controversial remarks of Fernando de Baca, a chairman of the Republican Party in New Mexico, [http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7639111.stm] as well as the continued calls for TPS for Haitians, this is a very timely dialogue.
Other panelists may appear as well.
