The People of Zimbabwe have been betrayed by their government and the Western governments that claim to support their desires for economic development and democracy. Promises have not been kept. The struggles of post-independence have endured, such as internal corruption in the Zimbabwean government, and multiple social and economic crises. Join the people of Zimbabwe in their calls for a new Constitution, one that benefits its people! Also call for a national “Truth and Reconciliation” process to bring out the truth and begin the healing process!
Equal treatment for Haitian refugees!
Currently, Haiti is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Temporary protected status (TPS) is granted by the United States (Homeland Security Department) to eligible nationals of countries that cannot safely return to their homeland because of armed conflict, environmental disaster, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions. Call on the Obama Administration to halt inhumane deportations to storm-ravaged Haiti and grant Haitians TPS now!
Economic Justice for Afro-Colombians! No to the U.S. – Colombia Fair Trade Agreement
The U.S. Colombia FTA would be disastrous for Afro-Colombians and increase economic disparities throughout the country. Take a stand against the proposed U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which would systematically threaten to destroy Afro-Colombian culture and civil rights. The FTA would also legitimize the forced removal of Afro-Colombians from their constitutionally protected lands. Demand the Colombian government speed up the return of Afro-Colombian collective territories that were wrongly taken away from their rightful owners!
