Details: DC Public Library and TransAfrica Forum's Arthur R. Ashe, Jr. Foreign Policy Library present Olivier Bancoult, President of the Chagos Refugees Group. Olivier Bancoult will discuss expulsion of the Chagossian people from Diego Garcia and the Chago Islands in the Indian Ocean. Between 1968 and 1973, the Chagossians were exiled from their homeland by the U.S. and British governments so that Diego Garcia could be used as a major U.S. military base. The program is sponsored by TransAfrica Forum's Arthur R. Ashe, Jr. Foreign Policy Library.
