A NATIONAL DIALOGUE

In advance of the Durban Review Conference

The racially defined history of injustice still shapes today’s realities, both national and international.  Despite the media hype to the contrary, neither our country nor our world is “post racial.”  This fact underscores the importance of the upcoming Durban Review Conference, April 20 – 24, 2009, in Geneva Switzerland.  The Review Conference is an opportunity for the world to continue the dialogue begun in 2001, during the World Conference Against Racism, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerances, and to refocus attention on the task of achieving human dignity for all. 

Unfortunately, the Obama administration, continuing the Bush policy, has said that it will not participate (see TransAfrica Forum statement for details).  However, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, TransAfrica Forum, and other members of the NGO community will attend.  And, we want to hear from you.  What do you think?
